Not that I don't like routines, but I find it extremely difficult to break them.
Wake up at 7.20 every morning( usually without fail) , get dressed, have breakfast, brush my teeth, go on my phone, do my hair, head off to school, return home, go to bed at 10---- it's basically the same 5/7 of the week.
My routines have become a habit, and those habits are the reason why I get through the day with minimum deliberation and stress. These are pretty basic routines , but if one day, a huge change had to occur in my routine... I wouldn't feel at ease.
Imagine: If you were suddenly told to have dinner at 7am and breakfast at 7pm, would you be able to cope with the change comfortably?
Or what if: You were told to sleep during the day and resume your daily activities at night?
I mean.. all of us have managed to take routines and make the automatic.
But at the end of the day, are routines good or bad? Should they be broken?
At times, for the sake of sticking to routines, we resist change for the better. They limit us. You know, life does get a little bit mundane if it's controlled by countless routines.
Hahaha I'm guilty of having pretty negative routines:
1) Stuffing my face with junk foods the moment I get home from school EVERY SINGLE DAY ☹
2) Going on social media EVERY SINGLE DAY ☹
3) Doing lots and lots of unproductive things EVERY SINGLE DAY ☹
These are routines that I know I have to break in order for me to be pushed towards my goals instead of away from them.
I really want to hear what you guys think:) Do you think routine is important?? I would love if you could submit your answer.
Are routines good or bad?
But...if routines are good, do we really know when they are meant
to be broken..?
Thank you so much for reading my blog ♥♥♥
Do comment if you have anything to say! xx
Have a great day:)

I need my daily routines as well! Or else, my whole entire day will be a mess.
DeleteThank you Nicole xx
I'm pretty sure I'd be happy if I was told to sleep during day and be awake during night it is so peaceful since most of the people are asleep..although I'm usually up late into night anyhow :P
ReplyDeleteI don't think social media is a negative habit as long as used for useful purposes like your blog I think it is a real good habit. (I waste a lot of time on Facebook Twitter Blogger Snapchat I wish I didn't but I do)
Having a routine during school can be helpful but you should have some cheat days as well where simply don't bother with routine and do what you want and when you want :)

Haha you're nocturnal:) It would be impossible for me to adapt to that.
DeleteOh no... I really do spend heaps of time on other social media, especially facebook!
Yea I totally agree, there are times when you should give yourself a day off from routines.
I like sticking to my routine during the week, weekends are always so busy so don't then.

Yes that works really well! :)

I'm a very routine kind of person... I personally don't think that's a bad thing. *shrugs* If I set aside time to do specific things then I can get more done in an orderly fashion. It gives me time for productivity, passion, and pastimes, so yes... Routines are excellent.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Having routines will enable you the time to focus on other more important things.
DeleteThank you Heather:)
I think if our routine was sleep all day and work all night, we would be tempted to break it and do the other way. But some routines are essential I feel.

Hahha yes! But that kind of thing is a little exaggerated...
DeleteI think routines are essential as well:)
This post was quite thought provoking! I know exactly what you mean...I have a bunch of unproductive habits that I also need to break. I'll have to think this over a bit more haha ;) Wonderful post!

Haha! But these habits are so so difficult to break... I guess I'm just used to doing it every day.
DeleteThank you Grace! <3
I don't have a routine actually lol. I just do things when I feel they need to be done, in no particular order.
ReplyDeleteI'm not lazy, I just don't plan. Usually.
And yes, I have a lot of unproductive habits as well, but that's because I'm homeschooled and don't do anything else lol If that makes since.
I don't actually plan my routines either, but it becomes automatic after a certain amount of time. Oh I procrastinate a lot haha... half of the time, I don't do them even during the times when I know they're meant to be done.
DeleteYou're so lucky you're home schooled! You have so much more freedom:)
Thank you <3

I like them as well! They serve as a guide for me.
DeleteAww Jordy, thank you so much <3
hi dear! thanks for your lovely comment. following you via gfc and bloglovin. let's stay in touch <3
ReplyDeletewell, i actually think that routines can go wrong and right in the same way. junk food, and spending too much time online without living life offline enough are routines meant to be broken because they are unhealthy. brushing your teeth, your hair, loving your body and grating it a good deal of skincare are routines which are good, healthy and precious for body and soul.

Thank you so much xoxo
DeleteI agree totally with you! We all have bad and good routines. And it is the bad routines that we're meant to break. The good ones should forever stick with us.:)

I think I know the feeling J. I used to live by routines too, and it was great. Nowadays I don't live by them anymore and I'm so off track. I've been trying to create new ones and it's all so difficult. Oh well. With the end of assessment comes no routine needed :)))

DeleteI've been out of school since April and let me tell you, NO ROUTINE IS HORRIBLE. It's like a dragged looong Sunday where you're just sitting there and going like "I should do this" but you don't because you have the whole loooong dragged afternoon to do it xD
ReplyDeleteThat's why I can't wait for my med school to start- it'll mean a scheduled routine for me again!
I know that feeling! Everything just gets so unproductive... Without a routine, I procrastinate even more :(
DeleteYou'll have a very hectic routine once your medical school starts! I wish you all the best :D
Thanks Catalina <3
I would love to this too, Infact I had a story book , though still have , which talks exactly the same n and I always wished that I switch places with the character in the story.

I totally agree :)
DeleteThank you for your comment!
I don't really have a routine to be honest, I mean I have to do the same things every day but I don't do it in the same order. I just do things as I feel like to but I have to say that when I have crafted a routine for me, especially during exam days, I get more stuff done and overall I'm more productive. The things is, should I do that every single day? I don't think I should or even can, because I'll get bored eventually
ReplyDeleteGreat post =)
Really insightful comment, thank you ;)
DeleteI agree, with a crafted routine, you can be more productive. Especially during exam period!
Sometimes we just have to let loose and shake up our routine a little bit.
Love your thoughts! Good or bad would probably depend on the routine. But it's nice to mix things up a bit sometimes and add a little excitement. :)
ReplyDeletewww.jeannechristinemarie.blogspot.com
Yea at the end of the day, it does really depend on what the routine is itself. :)
DeleteThank you Jeanne <3

Great post ! :) Good or bad would probably depend on the routine but probably we all have some routine in our lives :)
ReplyDeletehttp://tabicibeauty.blogspot.com/
You're right:) As long as the routines we have don't limit our creativity.
DeleteThank you!
Hey thanks for checking out my blog and commenting! It made me so happy! I followed!
ReplyDeleteNice blog by the way. I honestly don't have a routine anymore - by routine I mean my night time routine. It got way too hectic and busy for a night time routine since I'm often overloaded with homework and I often procrastinate as I do work. So often I end up staying up till midnight or two in the morning, which IS NOT HEALTHY. And my bad routines are basically the same as yours (esp. checking social media everyday). Haha.
Stay awesome! (:
Aww you made me so happy as well with your comment! <3
DeleteOh yes... I'm guilty of procrastinating so much! But I work terribly at night when I'm tired, so if I don't get work done that day, I wake up a tad earlier the next day to complete it,
Thank you so much:) YOU stay awesome;)

Yeah, I completely agree with you. I think that routines are a good thing, unless they're bad. Then they should be broken, and fixed for the better!
ReplyDeleteI agree! We just have to be aware of when they are supposed to be broken:)
DeleteThank you Jenny <3<3<3
i have the daily routines since i being the employee, sometimes i feel bored.
ReplyDeletebtw wanna follow each other on GFC? Let me know! :)

Yea... constantly sticking to the same routine is no fun.
DeleteThank you Wenny, I'd love to follow you:)
I think this is a pretty controversial topic you're touching. Good routines are good, like brushing your teeth, and bad routines are, well, bad, but what if you look at it like every routine should be broken once in a while? What does that leave you with? My dad always says everything in moderation, even broccoli, but I don't think that applies to routine.
ReplyDeleteI guess it also depends what kind of routine you mean. Like a sequence of events, during the day and whatnot? I guess so. Well, those aren't bad if they work for you, but what's the point in life if you don't break them once in a while? But if you're talking about the way things are, like the way you're hair is styled or the exact same thing you eat, that gets really really tedious, like a pattern. BORING. And also, if it's the routine of everything in life, like lets say you always break off friendships when you move away(not saying you do obviously), then that NEEDS TO CHANGE. You can't live life on routine and habit. That would make anyone sick.
I really like this post!
-Oakstar
Phew Oakstar :') You're really amazing...putting so much effort in your comment, I'm touched:)
DeleteI agree with you.
There are some negative routines that are a little obscure... in the sense that it's bad, but you're unable to realise that you should stop. For example, things you can can't see the effects of in a short term period.( Might be staying in contact with someone that will hurt you more than not...) Sometimes for the sake of routines, we ignore changes for the better. Stuff like that include job/travel opportunities, etc...
You're right:) At the end of the day, we just have to make sure that routine does not limit our creativity or opportunities.
Thank you Oakstar <3
Thank you! :D
ReplyDeletevery interesting post.
ReplyDeleteroutines can be changed every now and then,
we can never stick to just one routine because we need to change a few things or make it better.

My daily routines have been broken when I started working since my work is at night. Can you imagine that?
ReplyDeleteI message my friends at 1:30 in the morning to tell them "Hi I'm eating my lunch" and they'll all laugh at me.
Well, I think you don't really need to break a routine, you just need to learn to adjust. :)
lol does my comment make sense? lol
Do you seriously work at night!? As in all your hours are flipped?! Wow... I admire you, at least you've managed to cope with it well.
DeleteYou're right, you don't necessarily have to completely break a routine, sometimes you can just adjust bits of it to make it better.
It totally makes sense:D I get where you're coming from;)
